Olaplex & Oat Milk

Hey love!

Welcome to Olaplex & Oat Milk a written extension of Elizabeth Ann Studios. Grab your beverage of choice (we highly recommend an iced oat milk latte) and let’s discuss luxe self care routines, low maintenance blonding and how to finally achieve your hair goals.

Ready to start developing a solid haircare routine that has the potential to transform your hair health? The most vital thing I want to convey is all hair types need a healthy balance of hydration and protein. When we blindly purchase products (I'm talking about those aestically pleasing Instagram adds and impulsive Amazon purchases) we may be doing more harm than good.

I’m sharing the fundamental products you need to make up your routine, how to apply them and how to determine what your hair type will benefit from.

Detangling spray and a proper detangling brush

This one might feel obvious, but i’ve seen it be overlooked and misused countless times. Detangling spray should be applied from roots to ends, before brushing your hair out. This is what allows you to glide your brush through your hair without adding stress to sensitive strands. Your detangling brush should either be a wide tooth comb or wet brush (no exceptions). My favorite detangling spray for medium to coarse hair is, Davines “Oi All In One Milk” to help combat frizz and add provide healthy hydration. For my finer textured babes, I would stick to Davines “Dede” for light weight moisture and shine.

Blow dry balm

I truly believe this product was invented by the hair gods for year round Florida frizz. Olaplex “No.6 Bond Smoother” Not only will this product drastically improve your blow dry time, it works beautifully as a leave in for natural air drying. Apply a small amount to the palm of your hands, run this product through your mids and ends. Use any remaining product on your hairline (disregard this step if your texture is fine or tends to get oily quickly).

Smoothing Oil

This product allows for more versatility based on whether you blow dry or naturally air dry your hair. Olaplex “N.07 Smoothing Oil” is safe for all hair textures. If you are opting for minimal heat styling and air drying your hair, I would apply this product immediately after your smoothing cream. I would apply this product strictly to the mids and ends of your hair. When incorporating this product into your blow drying routine, I would use on mids to ends when hair is fully dry.

Texture spray and texture paste.

Let’s add the finishing touches 👏🏼 These products are completely optional, but will help hold your style and fight humidity. My go to texture spray is Davines “ Dry Texturizer” For a touchable hold and the sweetest fragrance. If you’re opting for a stronger hold and a more defined texture, give Davines “Medium Hold Paste” a try. A light amount of texture spray can be applied before and after waving your hair for extra texture and hold. When using a texture paste, I would apply a small amount mixed with a light oil to break up ends and create an effortless undone wave.

Let me know if you found this information helpful and please remember to shop small this Holiday season 🤍 All of the products I mentioned are either currently available at my studio or will be restocked this week.
